Able Growth Rate Triggers Expansion And Acquisition Interests
Commercial growth rate of 300%, 12,000 residential customers, 200 employees, and 22 million in projected revenue this year render Able ready for more.
Manassas, VA., Oct. 03, 2017 – “Buying other moving companies and real estate expansions can both get us more employees and more space, both of which we need,” says Able Moving & Storage CEO Joseph Singleton, “and we are in a great place to look at both.”
Since the Singleton family started the business in 1987, the philosophy of Able reinvesting its profits has allowed the Northern Virginia moving company to be ready for opportunities at every stage of growth, and this one seems to be no different.
Growth in all divisions have prompted satisfied customers to lobby the company to open satellite locations in areas near them all over the Eastern United States.
“Extremely happy customers have asked about our ability to service them locally in Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, Nashville, Huntsville, and even San Antonio,” says Steve Kuhn, Chief Operating Officer at Able. “Acquiring existing operations in one or more of these places may be easier then starting from scratch, but we are not ruling that out either,” he added.
Expansion options in the local market are not as mutually exclusive. The company’s existing need for additional space in the market could easily be aided through the acquisition of another local company, adding needed employees and more customers along the way.
Having just completed a 50,000 SF building at its Manassas headquarters brings their SF total there to 250,000, and it’s not enough. Leasing another 50,000 SF in Gainesville has helped, but what Able needs is another 20-30 acres capable of at least 300,000 SF of development.
“We have made absolutely sure our real estate brokerage relationships have always been good,” says Kuhn. “Not only are we counting on that community for expansion ideas and answers, they themselves are some of our best commercial clients.”
In its rapid growth, Able seems to have lost none of the focus it keeps on its primary goal; to offer superior service to their customers. The company firmly believes it is what separates them from the pack, and is the reason for their growth. Recent newcomers to the family owned business echo this sentiment.
Mike Murphy, former operations manager at Office Movers, knows this is just the beginning for the company. “The customer service here is unbelievable, this story is just starting to get out. I will see many of my industry colleagues in the hallways at Able in the future. It’s just a good situation.”
Realizing their rapid expansion path, and even triple digit growth in some of its divisions, the company recognizes that new proposals and opportunities are a forgone conclusion, and Able welcomes every one of them. Company President Jim Singleton says, “We did not get where we are today by not listening to people. Just because our wheels are always turning does not mean we are not listening.”
